| Our
Breeding Ethics Alaskan Malamutes have been part of our family
since 1994 and since then our lives have been dedicated to this wonderful breed.
We will continue to be responsible owners and breeders and promote all aspects
of living with and owning this great breed. We have enjoyed our dogs and
this breed for many years before we decided we were knowledgeable enough to breed.
We will only breed if we are living in the correct environment for our dogs, if
we want to extend our family and we have the room to take back any progeny. We
will only breed dogs with exceptionally good temperaments, with a good working
ability and conform to UK Alaskan Malamute Standard. It is of the utmost importance
to us that we breed dogs that are free from any genetic or hereditary conditions
that may cause any illness or poor life expectancy. We have bred only one litter
so far as we feel that it is a great privilege to own this great breed and have
thought long and hard before breeding. We
are planning a mating for Dakota (Snowolf Chicago Sal) in 2008, please contact
us for details. If you are interested in an Alaskan Malamute
and would like to know more about them, or you would like to be considered for
a puppy from us, please write and tell us about yourselves, and why you want an
Alaskan Malamute. We will only allow you on our waiting list once we have met
you, and you have met our dogs. If we do not have a litter due we will be able
to help and advise you on other Reputable Alaskan Malamute Breeders. Any
dog or bitch that we breed from, past and present, will not be bred before the
age of 3. We believe that any dog/bitch should be fully matured before becoming
a mum or dad for the first time. Our dogs are the most important things to us,
and when the bitch is in whelp, she is treated like a queen. Her health and the
health of her unborn puppies are the most important things to us. All of
the puppies that we breed are to be microchip, and tattooed before they leave
our care. This is to ensure, that we can identify any of our pups, and make sure
that they do not end at a re-homing centre or worse!! We have made great
friends with the owners of the 2 pups that left our home, and have no doubt in
our mind that these dogs will be cherished as much as we cherish ours.
Hopefully our breeding ethics will help you when you choose your breeder, as the
breeder of your pup has a significant purpose on how your pup faces the world.
Try and be patient and go to a good reputable breeder
.I can
assure you the wait is worth it!!
All prospective owners are fully
vetted before we agree to allow a puppy to go to a new home. They must be
aware of all the characteristics of an Alaskan Malamute Research the breed
in the UK, by actively talking to breeders and owners. An Alaskan Malamute
is not for a novice dog owner, so should not be bought on a whim, and we will
not pass on any puppies if we feel this is the case. You will need to come
and meet us, and our dogs, and if you are accepted on our list we may also ask
to vet your property.
Characteristics of the breed Alaskan
Malamutes are very pack orientated, and they will try and dominate you. If you
allow an Alaskan Malamute to dominate you, you are going to have problems.
Alaskan Malamutes are a very strong powerful breed, so you will need to be very
strong, as they can be very stubborn at times. They also have a very strong
hunting instinct, so be aware of your neighbour's cats, and also letting them
of the lead where there is a lot of wildlife. Alaskan Malamutes love to dig;
they will help you in the garden to remove all of your lovely plants and flowers.
You will also expect to have craters in your lawn, gone are the days of a perfect
lawn!!! At our home they are very friendly towards people and children, and
thus do not make good guard dogs. They thrive on human companionship, and
are very loyal, and affectionate, but they are also not a one man dog. General
Appearance Alaskan Malamute Club of United Kingdom and select 'The Breed
Standard'. Temperament Good Temperament is our utmost goal when
breeding. It is very important for an Alaskan Malamute to have a sound temperament,
due to the size, and power they have. What we want most of all is our dogs
to be a good ambassador's for this wonderful breed. We do not feel that aggression
and aggressive dogs should be bred from or be shown! Is an Alaskan Malamute
for you? Do you have patience, time and energy for puppy training/raising?
When you get your puppy you must spend quality time training, and carry on the
training into the teen years and above. Are you prepared for regular grooming
as malamutes shed a lot of hair? Make sure you have a good Hoover!!! Do you
have a perfect garden? Do you want your garden to stay perfect if the answer to
this is yes, then a malamute is not for you? Malamutes are very dominating
breed, and they live as part of a pack. Every member of the family must be higher
part of the pack or you will have problems. Alaskan Malamutes thrive on company,

If a dog causes injury or damage to a person or property, the injured party can
make a claim against the dog owner. Often household contents policies cover third
party claims against the dog but it is wise to check. You may wish to consider
additional insurance cover for veterinary bills. Veterinary Medicine over the
years has become increasingly sophisticated, the downside of these advantages
is the cost, and treatment could exceed £1,000. It is most distressing when
owners find themselves able to cure a pet's condition, but the cost is so high.
Illness can cost hundreds of pounds, so make sure that you insurance will cover
a single illness over the period of a dog's lifetime. Make sure that your dog
will be covered in later years of life, when he she will probably need it the
most. Please see below a list of companies that do dog insurance, all of our dogs
are insured with Churchill. o Churchill o Pet Plan o Tescos o
